Bridgend Ravens made it a third bonus point win on the bounce with a 62-5 win against Cross Keys at the Morganstone Brewery Field on Wednesday.

Dewi Cross led the way with four tries, taking his tally to five tries in seven games, with Dafi Davies also crossing for two after hardworking Mike Powell had opened the scoring. Gareth Harvey, Jordan Collier and late on Owen Thomas also crossed the white wash to secure the points for Bridgend. Owen Howe added six conversions to take his tally to eighty two points in just eight games this season.

The Ravens secured a try bonus point before halftime as Keys’ indiscipline handed Bridgend prime field position time and time again. Mike Powell bagged the first Ravens try with a big overlap as Bridgend attacked deep on the Cross Keys 22.

Bridgend scored some excellent tries throughout the match but the second came from the packs power just after the 20 minute mark. Gareth Harvey awarded a try as a big maul trundled over the line.

A further two quick fire first half tries with a little over half an hour played ensured a try bonus point, Dewi Cross was slipped a neat inside ball from Jamie Murphy for the Wing’s first of the evening, Owen Howe added the extras.

Just minutes later Ben Jones, hot on the heels of his Man Of The Match performance at Bargoed on Saturday broke the Keys defence and galloped up to the visitors 22. Dafi Davies showed excellent footwork and an electric turn of pace to touch down. Howe brought the Ravens’ first half tally to 24.

Keys struck for a try just after halftime as they broke upfield from underneath their own posts. Great pace down the wing. Quick recycling allowed Garin Price to touch down.

Bridgend struck back almost immediately, Jamie Murphy’s inside pass was again well disguised and Owen Thomas raced into the Keys 22. Dafi Davies, in support, bagged a second under the posts. Howe added the extras.

Supporters Man Of The Match Dewi Cross took over just after 50 minutes crossing for three tries in 9 minutes. Mike Powell’s efforts on the wing lead to another Bridgend break away. A big second half performance from Morgan Jones saw the Centre add an assist with a perfectly weighted cross kick to Cross who, one on one with the final defender, turned inside, outside and inside again for a remarkable try. Howe converted.

Bridgend, now playing some Champagne rugby, added a seventh. Stuart Floyd Ellis proved too quick and nimble and broke deep into the Keys half. Owen Howe carried into the 22 and provided the inside ball to Dewi who dived over for a hat trick.

Powerful scrummaging all evening helped ensure Bridgend dominated proceedings. A penalty from scrum time was kicked five metres out, setting the Ravens up again. Quick ball saw Ryan Evans carry to the line and provide the short pass to Cross who topped a fine personal performance with a fourth try. Owen Howe landed the conversion.

Bridgend added another two tries late in the half bringing their tally to ten for the match. Jordan Collier marked his first match back from injury with a powerful blind side move for his third try of the season. Howe added a sublime conversion from the touchline. Owen Thomas got in on the try scoring act with five minutes remaining, stealing an overthrown lineout for a gift of a try for the replacement hooker.

A dominant performance from Bridgend moved them up to 11th place in the Principality Premiership table, moving one step closer to Premiership survival.
