Match Preview

Team to face Llanelli (A)

Bridgend Ravens travel to Parc y Scarlets on Saturday for a midday date with Llanelli in the Principality Premiership Tier 2 (12pm).

The Ravens head West to face Llanelli looking for a first ever victory at Parc y Scarlets. Bridgend have lost every game at the ground since the first meeting between the sides at the ground in a 31-27 defeat in 2009.

Both sides are looking for their first win of the Tier 2 campaign. Bridgend have come up short in defeats to Newport (14-25) and Cross Keys (16-13). Llanelli lost 9-6 at Pandy Park against Cross Keys, before a handsome home humbling to early pace setters Neath (15-37). The game represents an opportunity for both sides to get back into the reckoning for the all important end of season play off matches.

In the earlier meeting between the sides, it was Llanelli that triumphed narrowly at the Bridgend Ford Brewery Field. Having won five straight games, Bridgend saw their success streak halted by the Scarlets in a 13-14 defeat. A Ryan Griffiths try late on gave the Ravens hope, but Llanelli came away with a deserved victory.

Mathew Edwards switches to full back with Garin Lougher and Michael Powell joining him in the back three. Ryan Evans and Joseph Gatt continue in midfield with last week's man of the match, Joseph Scrivens partnered with Chris Williams at half back.

Up front, Ashton Evans moves to number 8 and captains the side. Tom Morgan is at blindside with Jon Dawe, a product of Cardiff Met RFC making his debut at openside flanker. Following his try last week, Jon Kenny comes into the side to pair up with Owain Lloyd in the second row and Ollie Evans, Iestyn Merriman and Garyn Daniel comprise the front row.

Jamie Murphy is back from international duty with Germany and takes his place amongst the replacements.
