Bridgend Ravens welcome Carmarthen Quins to the Morganstone Brewery Field this evening for the second of three consecutive home games (7:15pm).
Bridgend's form of late has been much improved as they battle for every valuable point to help them maintain their top flight status. A thrilling victory at Llandovery was followed by a narrow home reversal to Newport last time out. A poor first half showing left the Ravens too much to do; with Jordan Collier and Chris Williams' tries pulling them back into the game to earn what could turn out to be an important losing bonus point.
Carmarthen come to Bridgend on a run which has seen them win two of their last seven games. Their last outing was an impressive 15pts all draw with North Walian powerhouse RGC at Stadiwm Zipworld. This followed a 7pts to 9 reversal to Aberavon and a 27pts to 13 win over Bedwas; both at Carmarthen Park.
The game earlier in the season went comfortably in favour of tonight's visitors. Two Will Holley penalties were all Bridgend had to show as the hosts ran riot, winning 44pts to 6 which was the Quins fourth win in the last five against the Ravens. The corresponding fixture went Bridgend's way last season by 11pts to 6. On a heavy pitch, Bridgend upset all odds thanks to a Jonny Phillips try and the boot of Jamie Murphy. A repeat result would go someway to easing any concerns of relegation from Wales' top flight.
Matt Silva shuffles his selection as his side look to get back to winning ways. Owen Howe makes a return to Bridgend colours and slots straight in at full back. The 2015 SWALEC Cup winner has most recently featured for Maesteg Quins, putting in a number of fine performances as they continue to impress in their first season in the Championship. He's joined by Aaron Grabham and Mike Powell in the back three. Morgan Jones is back from injury to partner captain Nathan Edwards in the centre. There's a change to the half back pairing with the experienced duo Jamie Murphy and Chris Williams selected.
Up front, Jordan Collier moves to No8 in a back row comprising Aled Evans and Tom Morgan. Jack Pope and Ben Jones are the second row selection. Owen Jordan, Gareth Harvey and, having impressed on his Bridgend debut in December's win over Aberavon, Ospreys tighthead Gheorge Gajion is selected at tighthead to complete the front row.
