The Ravens put this seasons two league defeats to Cardiff behind them as they ran out 22 points to 12 winners at the BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park, teeing up a clash away at Llanharan in the second round of the Swalec Cup.
Bridgend landed an early penalty goal before Cardiff flanker Jonathan Edwards got the hosts' first try of the match following a strong maul.
The Ravens hit back with a try of their own from lock Ben Jones. Jones went over out wide and the tricky conversion was off target. The referee sent Cardiff Centre Shaun Powell to the bin for a high tackle in the lead up to the try.
Chris Lewis went over for the first of his two tries as halftime approached. Liam Jones, on as a temporary replacement, sent a perfectly weighted kick out wide where Lewis managed to gather. The Ravens centre was able to get under the posts which allowed Howe to add a simple conversion.

Cardiff managed to get their second try shortly after as a yellow card for Andrew Waite close to the Bridgend try line left the visitors a man down in the scrum - Cardiff took full advantage.
Opting to scrum, the Blue and Blacks powered over and were awarded a penalty try. The simple conversion left just three points between the sides.
Chris Lewis got his second of the match, a fine individual effort saw the centre rip the ball in the tackle area and break away. Lewis showed fine footwork and great pace to touch down under the sticks. Howe added the extras to stretch the lead to ten points.
