For a second consecutive season, Bridgend Ravens made it three out of three in pre-season to go into the new campaign full of confidence.
The new-look Ravens were made to work hard for the third win of their preseason campaign by a dogged Beddau side at Mount Pleasant Park. Forced into a late change, with Tom Sloane pulling out injured, replaced by Chris Davies, Bridgend were forced to dig deep in their toughest pre-season assignment.
Both sides struggled to unlock strong opposition defences during the first half, with two Ryan Evans penalties the difference at the break.
Bridgend's outside backs showed moments of quality but too often during the first half poor ball control halted any momentum the Ravens tried to build.

The Ravens produced a much improved second half performance, although the newly promoted Championship outfit continued to frustrate the Swalec Cup champions.
Mike Powell got the Visitors first try of the match shortly into the second half. A loose clearance kick was gathered by the speedster who spotted a gap in the Beddau defensive line. Powell showed he had more than enough pace as he rounded the covering defence to score out wide. Marc Bennett, taking over the kicking duties, was wide with the conversion attempt.
The Ravens worked hard in defence all afternoon. Beddau fashioned multiple opportunities close to the visitors try line but were held out by strong tackles and excellent breakdown work.
Beddau conceded a string of penalties that led to a yellow card and the Ravens ensured the win as Liam Jenkins went over for the second try of the match. The visitors man advantage in the pack saw a powerful scrum march upfield. Two scrum penalties were conceded by Beddau and the Ravens packed down again. Matthew Phillips went close following his pick up from the back of the scrum and Jenkins was on hand to bundle his way over for the score out wide.
The Ravens continued to hunt for an additional score as the clock wound down. Scott Hicks made an excellent late break but the stubborn Beddau defence held out.
Tries: Mike Powell & Liam Jenkins. Penalties: Ryan Evans (2).
