Match Report

Bridgend 20-40 Aberavon

Bridgend Ravens suffered back to back defeats to Aberavon in the Foster's Challenge cup, losing 20-40 at the Bridgend Ford Brewery Field.

Just five days after a 40-8 defeat at Talbot Athletic Ground, the Wizards again slayed the Ravens to put themselves in pole position to qualify for the Foster's Cup Semi Finals.

The first half burst to life following a quiet opening 35 minutes. Three tries in the final five minutes saw the Ravens head into the break with a slim 8 point lead.

Ryan Griffiths opened the scoring with a fine run to dot down under the posts. A fine pass from Joseph Gatt allowed the flyer to attack out wide. Griffiths beat his man as well as the covering defence to notch his second try of the campaign. Joseph Scrivens landed the conversion for an 8 point lead.

An almost immediate reply from Aberavon saw Aaron Grabham nab a try after a long kick ahead was not dealt with by the Ravens defence. Cameron Clement slotted the conversion to level the scores.

As the half came to an end, Joseph Scrivens showed his fancy footwork to break through the Aberavon defensive line. The fly half dived over the line and converted his own score to hand the Ravens an 8 point halftime lead.

HT Bridgend Ravens 16-8 Aberavon

A dominating four try second half performance from the visitors downed the Ravens who only had two Joe Scrivens penalties to show for their efforts in return. Sam Williams, Ben Davies, Aaron Grabham and Richard Carter all went over for the Wizards throughout the second half.
