Local boys join up ahead of 17/18

As part of their continued commitment to development of local talent, Bridgend Ravens are delighted to confirm the signing of two of the borough’s most promising talents.

Having played an instrumental role at the tail end of the last campaign, 19 year old outside half Jacob Lloyd moves to Bridgend on a permanent basis from Pencoed. Jacob made seven appearances, featuring in five wins and scoring 21 points – bagging him the April/May Bridgend Ford Player of the Month Award. He’s looking forward to building on a promising start in Bridgend Ravens colours.

Jacob said ‘I really enjoyed being involved involved in the Bridgend set up at the end of last season. I’m very grateful for Bridgend giving me the opportunity to play at this level straight after coming out of youth.

I’m really looking forward to developing my game this season with a great coaching set up and bunch of boys and hopefully contribute to on field success with the club.'

24 year old second row Chris John also links up with Bridgend from local club Bridgend Athletic. John has also previously turned out for Heol y Cyw. The athletic lock turned out three times for the Ravens at the tail end of last season and will add to a competitive pack already bolstered by the signings of Shaun O’Rourke and Gareth Harvey.

Chris commented ‘I'm really happy to sign for Bridgend. It's a massive opportunity for me. There a good group of boys and I got on well with them well in the few games I played at the end of last season.

I’m looking forward to starting pre season with squad. My aim for the season is to push for the starting jersey but I’m aware there’s a fair bit of competition!’
