'Teamwork the key on and off the field' - Edwards

As the club gears up for another volunteers day this weekend at the Morganstone Brewery Field, newly appointed Nathan Edwards has stressed that team work is very much the ethos this season.

After being announced as the new Bridgend Ravens captain, Edwards, preparing for a trip to Italy with Ospreys U18's, stressed the need to continue the momentum created last season.

"Pre-season has been focused very much on continuing the form we showed towards the back end of last season. The coaches have ensured that our sessions are intense and driven towards us improving as individuals but most importantly as a team."

After finishing the season with 8 wins from 10 league matches, ensuring a tenth placed finish, higher standards have been set with 26 year old Edwards, with 120 Bridgend games under his belt, emphasising, "We as players have made changes to the culture that we share in an attempt to set standards and expectations that will bring us closer as a team. We realise how pivotal this season is and understand we have to come together as a team, as a club and as a community."

As the club looks forward to Saturday's Volunteer Day, Edwards stressed the importance of support on and off the field.

"Our aim is to take the club back to where it belongs in Welsh rugby but to do that we need supporters and the business community alike to support our ambition. We are grateful to our existing commercial partners, and encourage the business community of Bridgend to support us as we look forward to a successful season."

"We as a squad are privileged to wear the Bridgend jersey, and will do all we possibly can to reward supporters and businesses alike for their commitment to us. Unfortunately I can't be there, but I encourage all supporters to spare a few hours to help get the Morganstone Brewery Field ready for a huge season, and one which we as a squad can't wait to get underway."
