13 Feb Bridgend Ravens granted place in EDC

Bridgend Ravens are delighted to confirm that the club has been granted a place in the Elite Domestic Competition, due to commence next season. 

The Welsh Rugby Union Board met on Thursday (8 February) to assess and consider the applications for the new competition, which is designed to bridge the performance gap between the amateur and professional game and determine the best club team in Wales on an annual basis.

It was decided to confirm the recommendations of the EDC Licencing Panel to grant licences for nine clubs to participate in the new competition. The make-up for the exciting new competition is now largely known, with one spot still up for grabs.

Elite Domestic Competition Successful Applicant Clubs; 

Aberavon, Bridgend Ravens, Carmarthen Quins, Ebbw Vale, Llandovery, Newport, Pontypool, Swansea, RGC 1404

Bridgend Ravens Club Chairman, Norman Spain, commented “We are extremely pleased to be granted a licence to participate in the Elite Domestic Competition. 

As a club, we take immense pride in our place in the player development pathway and we look forward to continuing to play a key role in developing the next regional and international players.
