Bridgend Ravens picked up their second away victory of the season with a bonus point success at Carmarthen Quins on Saturday afternoon. 

Poor weather conditions saw a scoreless opening 20, but the weather didn’t stop Bridgend’s expansive play, scoring some excellent tries.

Carmarthen landed the opening score with a penalty from Jac Wilson.

The rest of the half saw one way traffic on the scoreboard. Jordan Collier slid over for an opening try as the half hour mark approached. Collier busting up to the 22 found Chris Williams in support. The scrum half timed his offload perfectly to find Collier who touched down for the first try of the match. Luke Price landed the conversion.

Supporters’ Man of the Match Edd Howley smashed his way over for the Ravens’ second try from the back of a Bridgend scrum.

Carmarthen added three more from the boot of Wilson before Bridgend struck twice in five minutes.

The wet conditions played their part in Bridgend’s third as a high kick was clumsily dropped by the hosts in their 22. Caine Woolerton controlled the ball and set Bridgend on the counter. Quick recycling saw Edd Howley in space out wide. The always impressive Fullback took full advantage stepping through the onrushing defence to bag his second, Bridgend’s third.

The Ravens added the bonus point score as the hour mark approached. A maul effort was well held by Carmarthen but the ball was spread wide. Edd Howley drawing attention found Cameron Ellis who ran over for the score.

Carmarthen added a try late on but Bridgend held out to deny the hosts anything from the game.

The Ravens take a break from league action this weekend when they host RGC in the Premiership Cup at the Dunraven Brewery Field (2:30pm).
