25 Aug Team to face Bournville

Bridgend Ravens close out their pre-season with a home match against English side Bournville on Saturday afternoon (2:30pm). 

The Ravens saw their opening pre-season fixture cancelled against Beddau but belatedly got underway on the field with an impressive win against Llandovery last Thursday evening. Despite trailing at half time, tries from Liam Tobias, Aled Evans (2) and Cameron Ellis saw Bridgend take the victory by 26pts to 19. Saturday’s match against Bournville is Tom Smith’s final opportunity to cast his eye over his squad before the difficult league opener against Swansea at St Helen’s a week on Saturday.

National League 2 side Bournville finished 11th in last season’s league standing with 6 wins from 25 league matches. They were in action last weekend with a victory over Sheffield Tigers 32pts to 14. Their other pre-season match saw them defeat Bromsgrove 31pts to 7.

The Coaches again take the chance to run the rule over 27 of the squad as they prepare for a tough test against their English opponents.
