31 Aug Captain Zac retains the armband for 16/17
Bridgend Ravens can confirm that Zac O’Driscoll will continue to lead the side into the 2016/17 season.
Zac played out his early years at Llanharan before making the switch to Heol y Cyw. As part of their commitment in signing the best of local talent, the coaches gave Zac his opportunity – making his competitive debut v Aberavon in the BIC Qualifier at the Bridgend Ford Brewery Field. After an exceptional first season, he was named club captain at the start of last season and will retain his role under new Head Coach, Matt Silva.
The 25 year old has made 47 appearances for the club, scoring one try and is delighted to be leading Bridgend again this campaign.
‘It’s a great honour for me to be named captain of Bridgend again for the coming season. Bridgend is a massive club steeped in history and after a season of re-building, the boys are looking to improve on last year.
We’ve got a really strong squad and there are a few new additions that are already fitting in well with the group. We’ve had a good pre-season with the new coaches and we can’t wait to get going against RGC on Saturday afternoon.’
Head Coach, Matt Silva commented ‘Myself and all involved at Bridgend Ravens would like to firstly congratulate Zac on his appointment as club captain for the coming season.
He was the automatic choice for us with outstanding leadership qualities on and off the field.
Zac is a person who leads from the front; his commitment and never say die attitude is something that will filter throughout the squad in what will be an exciting campaign this season.
He will be well supported by his team mates and the coaches and we are all right behind him.’
