14 Jun Ravens raring to go ahead of new season
Preparations for the new campaign are well underway at the Bridgend Ford Brewery Field as Bridgend Ravens plan for a seventh consecutive season in Wales’ top flight.
The players will shortly return to the Ravens pre-season base of Pencoed College for testing which kicks off at the tail end of June. This will be the first time that new additions Gareth Harvey, Nathan Edwards, Aaron Grabham and Shaun O’Rourke will join up with their new team mates.
Combined team training commences at the start of July with all eyes on a pre-season schedule filled with competitive matches, with the aim of getting the squad match ready for the first Principality Premiership game on August 26.
Bridgend Ravens welcome fellow Principality Premiership outfit Bargoed to the Bridgend Ford Brewery Field for the first hit out of pre-season on Saturday August 5 (2:30pm). The following Friday 11 August, Bridgend travel to Championship new-boys Trebanos (7:15pm). To wrap up preparations for the new season, Bridgend will travel to Redingensians Rams to feature in a round robin tournament with the Rams and Barnes RFC on Saturday 19 August (KO TBC).
Ahead of the commencement of pre-season, Team Manager Meredith Griffith commented. ‘These pre-season fixtures will give us the perfect opportunity to prime the squad for the long and hard season ahead. We hope to hit the season running this year and our preparation needs to boost our opportunity to do this. Our new signings will also get a chance to gel into the squad environment and this also gives some fringe players the chance to push their claims for a squad place.’
