Bridgend lost out to a clinical Aberavon at the Dunraven Brewery Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Ravens Indigo Premiership Cup tie against last season’s finalists was a close affair for 35 minutes, but the pace and power of the visitors saw Bridgend fall off the pace in the second half and fall to a 49 point to 14 defeat.

A bright start from the hosts saw Cameron Ellis touch-down out wide with just five minutes on the clock.

Luke Price added a penalty shortly after. Aled Thomas and price then traded further three pointers before Aberavon changed gear late in the half.

The final five minutes of the first half were telling of the second half that was to come. Frankie Jones touched down before a penalty try arrived just before the halftime whistle, Bridgend lost Evan Yardley to the bin and found themselves behind at the break.

A lighting start to the half from Aberavon saw the visitors take full advantage of the man advantage with Jay Baker just a couple of minutes in. Three tries from the visitors in 8 match minutes either side of halftime sunk the Ravens, and despite one further Price penalty, the visitors raced away with 6 second half tries.
