24 Feb Bridgend 45-17 Llanelli

Bridgend Ravens made it three consecutive home victories with a comfortable win over Llanelli at the Dunraven Brewery Field on Friday evening.

Played out before a healthy crowd, Bridgend wasted no time in asserting their dominance over a young Llanelli side. The Ravens crossed for three first half scores before adding another four in the second period to pick up five points which has moved them up to eighth in the Indigo Premiership.

The forward dominance of Tom Smith’s side gave them the platform for victory and Jordan Collier bagged the first try of the night from a driving maul after just five minutes. Luke Price added the conversion.

It wasn’t long before the home side scored a second with the powerful forward nudge seeing Gareth Harvey benefit to score for a converted score by Price.

There were plenty of opportunities for Bridgend to increase their advantage, with Caine Woolerton’s break almost finished off by Stuart Floyd Ellis. The referee originally awarded a score but after consulting with his assistant decided it had been knocked on in the act of scoring.

That didn’t deter Bridgend though, with Jordan Collier scoring from a 5m scrum. Price kicked a third conversion.

Llanelli’s young side didn’t back down and got their first score from their first attack from flyer Elli Evans.

Bridgend continued to try and chase a bonus point score before the break but Edd Howley’s effort from another Woolerton break was knocked on over the line.

Bridgend got off to a speedy start in the second half with Gareth Harvey securing the bonus point score.

It wasn’t long before the scoreboard was bolstered further following a Luke Price interception score. The outside half had just enough pace to race in from half way and added a conversion for good measure

With just over 20 minutes to go, Reuben Tucker, fresh from the replacements bench bagged a score with Luke Price’s conversion moving the home side to 40pts.

Llanelli’s Joe Hutchings bagged a consolation score for his team before Connor Tantum marked his Ravens return by finishing off a fine team move.

The visitors had the final say of the evening with a try from Louis Rees.

Bridgend will be looking to continue their fine run of form since the turn of the year when RGC visit the Dunraven Brewery Field on Saturday, kick off 2:30pm.
