Bridgend Ravens made the long trip to Stadiwm CSM on Saturday afternoon, falling to a 27 pts to 13 defeat to RGC.

The Ravens battled hard, but ultimately fell to defeat in Colwyn Bay, lacking a clinical edge. However, the performance will certainly help build confidence going forward. Bridgend can feel disappointed not to come away with at least a losing bonus point for their efforts.

The Visitors dominated the opening quarter but only managed three points from the boot of Paul Short. Held up over the line and conceding penalties in the red zone cost Bridgend later on in the match. Their play with ball in hand plus Scrum and driving lineout all gained positive yards, but RGC fought hard and held Bridgend out.

The second quarter saw RGC build into the game, the Hosts found big gaps in the Bridgend defence. Dion Jones racing through in midfield for the first try of the match.

A second try arrived, this time out wide from Dafydd Williams. Dion Jones converted both scores for an 11 point halftime lead.

Bridgend fought back early in the second half with a try from Gareth Harvey. Another powerful maul drive was finally finished off in the corner. Short converted.

Dion Jones added two penalties before Paul Short struck back with one of his own, seeing Bridgend trail by 7 as the final 10 minutes arrived.

The hosts were to have the last say, forcing a turnover close to the Ravens line and bagging another try to secure victory. Theo Mayell touching down.

Bridgend left empty handed and will have been left disappointed to not get something from the game. More clinical finishing could have seen a different result, but Bridgend will take confidence from their performance.
