Bridgend Ravens backed up Saturday’s victory at St Helen’s with a second victory over Swansea, this time at the Dunraven Brewery Field on Thursday evening.

The Ravens crossed for six tries in total, bagging two bonus points in the process, in an impressive performance in front of the S4C Clic cameras.

Josh Phillips scored the first points of the game before Bridgend sprung to life. Some good open field running from McCauley Rowley set Ryan Wilkins free on the left wing. The centre chipped ahead and regathered to dot down in the corner. Ben Burnell nailed a lovely touch line conversion.

Swansea hit back soon after with a try from former Osprey Matthew Aubrey. Like in Saturday’s game, the 9 was on the end of a neat dink through to score, Phillips converted.

This sparked a response from the home side which saw them take control of the game. Bridgend managed to get a forward surge on which Thomas Jevons finished off at the back of a driving maul. Burnell added the extras.

With ten minutes until the break, the Ravens extended their advantage. Having worked the ball nicely to within meters of the Swansea line, Liam Tobias on his 50th appearance was able to pick up and bundle over for a try that went unconverted.

As the half drew to a close, Swansea had the chance to reduce the deficit through a Josh Phillips penalty which was missed; the first attempt from the tee missed by the former Llanelli man in 2024/25.

Bridgend made a rapid start to the second half with McCauley Rowley picking off a stray pass from the All Whites backline to run the length of the field and score an interception try. Burnell made no mistake with the conversion.

Swansea were really chasing the game now and the home side’s resolute defence forced them into numerous errors. Bridgend’s electrifying back play paid dividends during this period with Edd Howley slicing through a gaping hole in the defence to feed Chris Williams for a converted try.

The Ravens weren’t done yet though as Travis Huntley made his mark from the replacements bench to run in a try and round off a successful evening for Scott Baldwin’s side.

The full time whistle went shortly after as a bumper Brewery crowd celebrated the Ravens going top of the Super Rygbi Cymru standings with a double bonus point win. Bridgend are next in action when they face Aberavon at Talbot Athletic Ground on the 12th October, kick off 2:30pm.
