02 May TEAM TO FACE CARDIFF AT THE ARMS PARK
Bridgend Ravens head to table toppers Cardiff on Saturday afternoon in the Quarter Final of the Super Rygbi Cymru Playoffs (2:30pm).
Bridgend, who finished seventh, earned their place in the knockouts with a stunning late win over Swansea at the Dunraven Brewery Field last Thursday evening. The Ravens came back from a 16 point deficit to win 33pts to 30, with Corey Lewis’ late try proving decisive. That win followed another late comeback against Llandovery the week prior, with Corey Lewis again scoring a try at the death and Luke Price kicking the winning points. The resilient Ravens go into the quarter finals with their tails up.
Cardiff finished top of the league, despite two defeats to close out the season against Llandovery (43pts to 48) and Pontypool 47pts to 27. Dan Fish’s men are the bookies favourite to win the inaugural Super Rygbi Cymru title having won 13 of their 18 league matches.
The Blue and Blacks did the double over the Ravens in the league, winning 47pts to 19 at the Arms Park in October and 29pts to 14 at the Brewery in April. Sandwiched in between was a cup match that Bridgend won 27pts to 19 but the Ravens know a tough challenge awaits on Saturday afternoon.
Bridgend are afforded the luxury of minimal changes with Mccauley Rowley and Matholwch Iorwerth Scott, both injury absentees last week against Swansea, straight back into Baldwin’s side.
