14 Feb TEAM TO FACE CARDIFF AT THE BREWERY

Bridgend Ravens welcome Super Rygbi Cymru league leaders Cardiff to the Dunraven Brewery Field for an SRC Cup clash on Saturday afternoon (2:30pm).

Bridgend kicked their Cup campaign off a fortnight ago with a hugely disappointing defeat at Talbot Athletic Ground against Aberavon. The Ravens left themselves too much to do, heading in at half time trailing 29pts to 5 after conceding three tries in six first half minutes. A stirring second half comeback wasn’t enough as Baldwin’s men had to settle for a bonus point for scoring four tries.

Cardiff have two defeats from their opening two cup games – losing first up at Llandovery 40pts to 33 before a home defeat to RGC (31pts to 34) a fortnight ago. Dan Fish’s side did redeem themselves last weekend though with a 34pts to 26 victory over the Gogs in a league match at the Arms Park.

The Ravens will be looking for their first home win over Cardiff since a 33pts to 26 win in 2017 on Saturday and know they’ll have to be at their best to get anything from the game against a strong Cardiff outfit.

Scott Baldwin makes a handful of changes from the opening round with Aberavon as the side returns to a more familiar look. Edd Howley returns to his usual position at fullback with Cam Ellis and Mccauley Rowley named in the back three. Ryan Wilkins and Tommy Morgan pair up in midfield and without usual outside halves Ben Burnell and Luke Price, Harvey Nash deputises at 10. Chris Williams captains the side from scrum half.

The front row comprises Harry Olding, Corey Lewis and Liam Tobias, with Barnaby Waddell back from injury in the second row. Barney plays alongside Llanharan’s James Owen in the second row, with Alfie Llewellyn, Ioan Pascoe and Thomas Jevons in the back row.
