Bridgend Ravens and Carmarthen Quins go head to head in a Super Rygbi Cymru clash that could prove pivotal in the race for the top 6 on Saturday afternoon at Carmarthen Park (2:30pm).

Scott Baldwin’s side currently occupy the final automatic playoff place but have the Quins, RGC and Aberavon hot on their heels as the regular league season reaches its final throes.

The top 6 sides automatically qualify for the end of season playoffs, with the bottom 4 facing eachother (7 v 10, 8 v 9) for a chance to join them in the quarter finals.

Carmarthen have been resurgent in recent weeks, picking up their first win since November against RGC a fortnight ago, before giving high flying Ebbw Vale a scare last weekend. The Steelmen ran away with proceedings late on to win 40pts to 20.

Bridgend put in a determined performance against league leaders Cardiff, with the Blue & Blacks having a late rally of their own to secure 6 points in a 29pts to 14 victory at a sun soaked Dunraven Brewery Field.

The sides met earlier in the season at the Brewery with Charlie Titcombe starring for Quins in a 35pts to 29 victory. Bridgend staged a comeback to come within a score but couldn’t break the West Walian’s resolve as they secured a five point win in Bridgend.

There’s a few changes to the Bridgend Ravens side this weekend as Scott Baldwin welcomes back some of his regional contingent. Tom Florence, Will Greatbanks and Lewis Jones all go straight into the starting XV.

Ryan Wilkins is back from his stint in Australia and is straight back into Bridgend’s matchday squad, taking his place amongst the replacements.
