Both sides lost their opening matches last weekend, Bridgend by 41pts to 22 at Newport Stadium against Newport and Pontypool narrowly at home to Llandovery by 18pts to 21. There’s been a change within their coaching team this week as the club announced the shock departure of Head Coach Leighton Jones who left on mutual terms. He is replaced this weekend by former Bridgend outside half, Tom Hancock who recently returned to the club from Llandovery as Backs’ Coach.

It was Bridgend that took the spoils in the corresponding fixture last season with a win thanks to tries from Zac O’Driscoll, Tommy Morgan, Chris Williams in a 27pts to 23 success.

Scott Baldwin makes just two changes to the side which featured last weekend. Tom Florence comes into the backline on the wing with Liam Tobias the tighthead change.
