27 Sep TEAM TO FACE SWANSEA AT ST HELEN’S
Bridgend Ravens head to St Helen’s on Saturday for the first of two Super Rygbi Cymru games against Swansea in a week (2:30pm).
Both teams are looking for their first win of the season having suffered two opening defeats, leaving them as the bottom two sides in the early season standings. Bridgend lost to Newport first time out (41pts to 22) before a narrow 29pts to 26 home reverse to Pontypool last weekend.
Swansea suffered defeats to Carmarthen Quins (39pts to 29) and heartache last weekend with two late Newport tries seeing them defeated (35pts to 27).
Last season, it was one win each in the head to head between the sides. Bridgend won on opening day at St Helen’s by 27pts to 26 before Swansea avenged that result, beating the Ravens 22pts to 12 at the Dunraven Brewery Field.
There are a number of changes to the side which narrowly lost out to Pontypool last weekend. Jake Thomas is rewarded for his promising cameo from the replacements bench with a start on the wing, Tom Florence moves to centre. There’s also a fresh face at 10 with Ben Burnell deputising for the injured Luke Price.
Marley Lovell and Curtis Greenslade are back into the XV at tighthead and hooker respectively with Ospreys second row Evan Hill making his first start. Thomas Jevons and Alfie Llewellyn are the changes in the back row.
It’s a 6/2 split on the replacements bench with Travis Huntley, Chris Williams and Tom Morgan all set for their first competitive appearances of the season should they take to the field.
