Bridgend Ravens are pleased to confirm the appointment of Jason Bessant as the Club’s new Team Manager.

Bessant replaces outgoing Team Manager, Meredith Griffith, who retired at the conclusion of last season following nine seasons at the helm. Jason steps into the role, having initially joined Scott Baldwin’s backroom team last summer as Referee Consultant.

Prior to his role at the club, Bessant enjoyed an 18 year career as a referee for the Welsh Rugby Union and is looking forward to taking up his new role when the squad reconvenes for pre-season training next month.

Bessant said “I am thrilled to be appointed as the Team Manager of Bridgend Ravens RFC, my boyhood club that I’ve passionately supported since childhood. With over 37 years in rugby – playing from age 6 to 23, refereeing for 18 years (including eight matches with Bridgend), and serving as a Referee Consultant for the Ravens last year – this opportunity is a dream come true. 

Stepping into the role vacated by Ed is daunting, but I’m excited to build on his legacy while continuing to contribute my expertise and dedication. As a lifelong supporter, I’m honoured to lead this talented team and work together to drive success for Bridgend Ravens.”
