We’re excited to announce the launch of the Colin Hillman Bridgend Se7ens, taking place at the Brewery Field on Sunday 24th August. 

The famous ground will play host to a feast of rugby with a number of the best of the borough’s sides set to do battle for the inaugural Bridgend Sevens title on Bank Holiday Sunday. There’ll be live music, food stalls and plenty on offer for children, with full information to be released shortly!

The Sevens is named in honour of Colin Hillman; a man that made a significant contribution to rugby within the Bridgend area, with both his playing & coaching contribution will have had a significant impact on the development of the game as a whole. He won international caps at both Welsh schoolboy & youth level, before going on to captain the Welsh Sevens Team, a team which he later coached. He also played as hooker for Bridgend Ravens but also played for the Barbarians, Swansea, South Wales Police, Bridgend Sports and Merthyr rugby clubs.

The action starts at 11am and each side will play at least five matches. The competition climaxes with Cup and Plate Finals and the on field ties set to end around 6:30pm. Brewery Field Clubhouse will remain open until late following the conclusion of the tournament with supporters encouraged to stay and celebrate the best of Bridgend County Borough’s talent into the evening.
