24 Mar Gareth Thomas Davies Steps Aside As Medical Lead
Saturday marked the end of an era for Bridgend Ravens Medical Team as Gareth Thomas Davies confirmed he is stepping aside as the Club’s Lead Therapist at the end of the current season.
Gareth has a long association with the club, joining in 2004 as a 15 year old with aspirations for a career in sports therapy. He worked to gain qualifications and progressed to professional rugby in 2010 which briefly ended his tenure working for the club. ‘Nadia’ remained an avid supporter, attending whenever he was able alongside his job.
After stints with Dragons, Ospreys, Cardiff Rugby and local teams in the Bridgend Ravens pathway, Nadia returned home in 2021 to support the existing medical team. A month later, Gareth assumed charge of the Medical Team and has worked hard ever since to build a strong team and a professional setup fit for a modern rugby club.
Gareth has decided to step away from the day to day commitments of Bridgend Ravens and spend time continuing to grow his successful business and with his young family. Importantly though, he will still be involved as he hands over leadership of the medical team to Regan Cooper.
Gareth said, ‘I step down knowing the club is in great hands, with therapists who have the same love and care for the club as I do.
I know that the club is in the safest possible hands with Regan, Hannah, Dylan and a chiropractic student.
The department still has significant room for improvement, but I’ve taken it as far as I can and now it’s time for the next generation to take the club forward.
For now, I’m focussed on helping us have the strongest end to the season as possible and from next season, supporting the medical team where needed and the club from the stands.’
