30 Jan TEAM TO FACE CARMARTHEN AT THE PARK
Bridgend Ravens return to Super Rygbi Cymru league action with a trip to Carmarthen Quins on Saturday (2:30pm).
The Ravens picked up a much needed win last time out, seeing off Aberavon in the first round of the Super Rygbi Cymru Cup at the Electric Brewery Field by 15pts to 14. That win was the club’s first since October and a boost ahead of the commencement of the business end of the season.
Quins are having a hugely improved campaign and currently sit in 6th place in the SRC standings with 8 wins from 13 games to date. They were victims of an epic second half comeback from Newport last weekend in the Cup, with the Black and Ambers scoring 40 unanswered points in the second forty to win 40pts to 12.
The Ravens have just two league wins to their name, but did beat the Quins 27pts to 24 in the league opener in September and have won two of their previous three trips to Carmarthen Park.
Baldwin makes a number of changes to the side for Saturday, reverting back to a more familiar XV for league action. Edd Howley, Mccauley Rowley, Joseph Gatt and Luke Price all return to the backline with Fraser Jones moving to 12.
Amongst the pack, it’s a fresh front row with the all Ospreys second row of Evan Hill and Will Greatbanks continuing. Alfie Thomas and Thomas Jevons are joined by Iestyn Merriman, finally making his 150th appearance for the club.
