27 Feb TEAM TO FACE RGC (A) IN PLATE SEMI FINAL

Bridgend Ravens head to North Wales on Saturday to face RGC in the semi final of the Super Rygbi Cymru Plate (2:30pm).

The Ravens finished Pool B in fourth place and will face Pool A’s third placed side with a spot in next Saturday’s final – against either Swansea or Carmarthen Quins, the prize for the winner.

Bridgend won one of their four pool matches, against basement side Aberavon – picking up bonus points in defeats to Ebbw Vale and Swansea to secure their final four place. RGC won two of their four games, beating Cardiff 34pts to 5 and Carmarthen Quins 54pts to 19 last weekend to book their home semi final.

The sides have met once already this season – and it was the Gogs that won at the Electric Brewery Field by 54pts to 26. Bridgend have won their previous two at Eirias though, including last year’s 38pts to 19 double bonus point success.

For Saturday’s semi final, Baldwin sticks largely with the side which he has selected throughout the cup group stages. Fraser Jones continues at full back, with Edd Howley replacing the injured Jake Thomas on the wing. Mccauley Rowley is selected on the other wing. In midfield, Ben Burnell and Joseph Gatt. Lloyd Wilkins and Harvey Nash are the half backs.

Alex George, Tyler Olding and Nathan Evans make up the front row, with Evan Hill and Barnaby Waddell in the second row. Last week’s man of the match, Alfie Thomas moves to 6 with Morgan Boobyer, fresh from scoring last Friday in at 7. Thomas Jevons remains at 8.
