14 Aug A Message from the Chairman
Dear Supporters and Members,
I hope that you’ve had an enjoyable long, hot summer.
In the last few hours, you may well have seen the publicity issued about the relocation of the North Wales Crusaders to Bridgend in the coming seasons.
The club would like to confirm that they have been in negotiations with the owners of the Crusaders to relocate back to South Wales and in particular the Electric Brewery Field, to coincide with a new dawn for the stadium. The Crusaders, now under new ownership, are currently awaiting approval of the move in the form of an RFL licence.
Some may recall that the previous engagement between Rugby Union and Rugby League did not end as amicably as it should have when the played at the ground, I wish to ensure that this new arrangement sees a collaboration of codes in a way that ensures the future of both codes with Brewery Field Ltd remaining as the main leaseholder.
This great news is based on the continued development of the Electric Brewery Field as a sporting facility the town can be proud of. As you will be aware, we soon hope to make an announcement on a new 3G pitch, which is the next proposed plan in this redevelopment programme, following the refurbishment of the hospitality boxes.
For now, let’s await the news next week and hopefully we will soon see top class, Rugby Union and Rugby League based in the town very soon.
I look forward to seeing you all at Bedwas this evening.
Tony Williams
(Bridgend Ravens Chairman)
