Team to face Aberavon at the Brewery

Bridgend Ravens welcome Aberavon to the Electric Brewery Brewery Field on Thursday evening as Super Rygbi Cymru enters its fifth round of matches (7:30pm).

It’s been a mixed start for both sides this season; Bridgend and Aberavon each have one victory. The Ravens have picked up valuable points in a defeat to Llandovery (26pts to 29) and three league points in a draw with Swansea (26pts all).

The sides met as recently as round one of this season’s matches, with Aberavon coming out on top by 36pts to 17 following a stirring comeback from a 17-0 deficit. Since that result, the Wizards lost 52-26 at home to Ebbw Vale and suffered away defeats to Newport (73-33) and Llandovery (66-21).

For Thursday’s match, Baldwin rotates his squad which has a fresh look for the challenge of another all Ospreys derby. There are three changes in the backs, with two new wingers in Edd Howley and Gabe Lacey and a change at 9, with Harvey Nash regaining the jersey.

In the forwards, the front 5 is refreshed with Marc Thomas, McKenzie Scales and Nathan Evans – all on the bench last week, named to start. Cody-Ray David and James Richards pair up in the second row, with a back row of Ioan Davies, captain Zac O’Driscoll and Benji Williams.

It’s a strong bench including co-captain Thomas Jevons and try scorers from last week Dom Manaseitava and Nick Fisk Jones.
