16 Oct TEAM TO FACE PONTYPOOL AT THE BREWERY
Bridgend Ravens round off a block of home matches on Saturday with the visit of Pontypool to the Electric Brewery Field (2:30pm).
It’s been three home games on the bounce for Scott Baldwin’s side – a defeat to Llandovery, a draw with Swansea and a win against Aberavon seeing the home side pick up 10 points from their three matches back on home turf.
Pooler have two wins from their matches to date – a 43pts to 41 win over Llandovery on matchday 1 and a 31pts to 26 victory over RGC a fortnight ago. Last weekend, they fought Llandovery to the death; a late try for the West Walians earned a 31pts to 15 win, denying the men of Gwent anything from the game.
Bridgend won the corresponding fixture last season after an epic second half comeback to win 50pts to 27, and won the meeting at Pontypool earlier this season after an incredible first half performance, coming out 50pts to 38 victors.
For Saturday’s game, Baldwin makes a handful of changes to his side which was victorious over Aberavon. Most notably, there’s a return for Ben Evans on the wing and Nick Fisk Jones makes his first start for Bridgend Ravens.
Harry Olding and Callum Donoghue Proud are in from the start, having made such a positive impact last weekend from the bench and Alfie Thomas comes into the second row. Thomas Jevons missed out last Thursday with a knock, but takes his place in the back row with his fellow co-captain, Zac O’Driscoll, and last week’s Man of the Match, Benji Williams.
