14 Mar TEAM TO FACE RGC AT THE BREWERY

Bridgend Ravens round up the Super Rygbi Cymru Group phase with a home tie against RGC on Super Saturday at the Dunraven Brewery Field (2:30pm).

Bridgend’s game kicks off at the usual time of 2:30pm, with Wales facing England in the Guinness Six Nations at 4:45pm at Principality Stadium. Wales’ match will be shown live in the clubhouse following the conclusion of what’s certain to be another thrilling affair between Bridgend and the North Walians.

Llandovery are hot favourites to qualify for the inaugural final having taken control of the group with a 6 points 50pts to 35 win over Bridgend at Church Bank last weekend. They need just one point to be guaranteed to qualify, with 5 points almost certainly meaning they’ll have the benefit of hosting the showpiece final on Thursday 20th March.

Bridgend can’t qualify for the final and have enjoyed a mixed bag of results in the competition so far. It all started with.a 36pts to 25 defeat at Talbot Athletic Ground against Aberavon, before a 27pts to 19 win over Cardiff at the Brewery. Defeat at Llandovery a fortnight ago in an enthralling 85 point match put an end to the Ravens hopes of qualifying but they’ll be hoping to pick up another home win this weekend to head back into the league run in with some confidence.

The sides have faced each other twice in the league this season, with a win apiece. RGC won at the Brewery by 28pts to 34, withstanding a late Bridgend comeback before Scott Baldwin’s men thumped the Gogs 38pts to 19 at Stadiwm CSM a week later.

For Saturday’s match, Bridgend are boosted with the return of their Ospreys contingent. Tom Florence, Matholwch Iorwerth Scott, Lewis Jones and Freddie Chapman are all back in blue and white for some much needed game time with their club.

Saturday’s match will also be Ryan Wilkins’ final game of the season for Bridgend as he heads off to Australia for a summer of rugby.
