17 Jun BRIDGEND RAVENS AWARDS EVENING 2025

Bridgend Ravens hosted their Annual Awards Evening on Friday night, as players, coaches, staff, supporters, and members came together to celebrate the 2024/2025 season at the JPR Suite at the Dunraven Brewery Field.

The awards presentations began with a heartfelt presentation to Meredith Griffith and John Jeffs in recognition of their long-standing service to the club, with both retiring from their current roles at the end of this season. The award was presented by club stalwarts Norman Spain and Tony Williams, who paid tribute to their dedication and commitment over the years.

Tony Williams also had the honour of presenting the Bridgend Ravens Volunteer Special Recognition Award, acknowledging the vital contributions made behind the scenes by the club’s dedicated volunteers. This year’s winner was Glen Stevens. 

The prestigious Derrick King Clubman of the Year Award was then presented by Norman Spain, highlighting the invaluable efforts of individuals who embody the spirit and values of Bridgend Ravens was awarded to Meredydd James.

Recognition was also given to players achieving significant appearance milestones. Harry Olding, Liam Tobias, Tom Morgan, and Evan Yardley were each honoured for reaching 50 appearances for the club, with presentations made by Meredith Griffith.

Club Caps were awarded to Zac O’Driscoll and Joseph Gatt for reaching the impressive milestone of 150 appearances. Scott Baldwin presented the awards, with Evan Yardley accepting Zac O’Driscoll’s cap in his absence.

The evening continued with the presentation of the playing awards. Cameron Ellis was named Most Improved Player of the Year, receiving his award from Matthew Jones, following a standout season on the wing.

The Supporters’ Player of the Year award, presented by Rhydian Cole, was won by the ever-consistent Mccauley Rowley, in recognition of his excellent debut season at the Brewery.

The final player accolade of the evening, the Players’ Player of the Year award, was presented by Evan Yardley and awarded to Ryan Wilkins, a reflection of the impact the centre has made during his first season with the Ravens.

A final presentation by the club was made to Club Photographer, Leighton Davies, for his unwavering commitment to his role – with a signed team photograph from the final game of the season against Cardiff gifted to him from all at Bridgend Ravens.

To conclude the evening, guests enjoyed an entertaining and insightful Question and Answer session with former rugby stars Arwel Thomas and Maama Molitika, hosted by Wayne Barrington.
