07 Nov Team to face RGC at the Brewery
Bridgend Ravens are at home again on Saturday when they welcome North Walians RGC to the Brewery Field (2:30pm).
The clash pits the two basement sides against one another as bottom RGC take on 9th place Bridgend and both sides will be keen for this to be the weekend they’re able to kickstart their season.
The Ravens come into the match on the back of three straight defeats – to Pontypool, Llandovery and most recently Newport. Bridgend will be rueing the missed opportunities in that most recent defeat, only able to take home a bonus point for scoring 4+ tries.
RGC lost on the road last weekend at Carmarthen Quins, 19pts to 10 and have just one victory to their name so far – a 23pts to 14 win at Pontypool Park on Matchday 2.
The sides met three times last season and Bridgend won the mini series 2-1. It was a win each in the league, and RGC won the corresponding league fixture at the Brewery 34pts to 28, but Bridgend won at Parc Eirias 38pts to 19 and in Super Rygbi Cup in Bridgend by 49pts to 42.
Baldwin sticks largely with the squad which lost out to Newport last weekend, with just a handful of changes in the pack. Owen Hatherill is in from the start, replacing Nathan Evans who misses out through injury and it’s all change in the second row with Dylan Burrows coming in and James Richards moving from 6 to partner him. James Owen steps into the side at 6, with an unchanged back row and pack around him.
Amongst Bridgend’s replacements is Cardiff Rugby Academy prop Callum Donoghue Proud, hoping to make his debut on permit from the capital city side.
