Bridgend Ravens were humbled at home to RGC on Saturday as the North Walians condemned the Ravens to bottom place of the current Super Rygbi Cymru standings.

Baldwin’s men were blown away by the Gogs, who scored six tries in a dominant performance to pick up all six points and propel themselves to sixth in the table.

RGC took the lead after nine minutes through a McBryde penalty which proved to be a lead that they’d never surrender.

They extended that advantage half way through the first half as wing Caio Parry found his way to the line after some weak tackling. McBryde did the rest.

There appeared to be a brief route back into the game for Bridgend, with Lloyd Wilkins benefitting from some loose play to stroll in for a try converted by Fraser Jones. The Ravens were relieved to have scored having squandered two kickable penalties just moments earlier and instead opted for attacking scrums.

The comeback was short lived as Delwyn Jones and Jac Petch Jones both scored tries in the five minutes following Wilkins to give the visitors a huge half time lead.

HT Bridgend 7-24 RGC

Things didn’t get much better for Bridgend in the second period. Celt Ffrancis Roberts scored after just five minutes of the restart and things quickly got worse when second row Dylan Burrows was yellow carded for the home side.

RGC kept the scoreboard ticking with another McBryde penalty after 56 minutes, but a rare mistake from their backline just minutes later saw Mccauley Rowley pick off a loose pass to intercept and score a try improved by Jones.

Any faint hopes of a Bridgend comeback were ended in the following five minutes as McBryde kicked a penalty and scored a stunning solo score, which he converted.

He added three more with five to go, but Bridgend rallied late to score two further tries – for Rhydian Greenhall and Chris Williams, but it was fitting that RGC had the final say through another rolling maul try.

Bridgend will look to regroup next weekend without a match before they welcome Swansea to the Brewery Field on Friday 21st November (7:30pm).
