Bridgend Ravens welcome Maesteg Quins to the Dunraven Brewery Field on Friday evening for both sides’ final pre-season friendly ahead of 2022/23 (7:15pm).

The Ravens are unbeaten against the Quins in their traditional pre-season fixture – their first meeting was in 2015 when the Ravens came away 46pts to 0 victors over the Quins at the Brewery. The next meeting was again in Bridgend in 2019, when an Andy Evans hattrick inspired Bridgend to a 41pts to 7 success. The last time the sides met was last August at South Parade, with Bridgend winning 26pts to 9; tries from Gareth Harvey, Lee Murphy, Edd Howley and a penalty try saw the men from the Brewery Field come out on top.

Quins have played one pre-season game so far; against Porth Harlequins. The Ravens can expect another tough test as preparations continue ahead of the Ravens’ trip to Aberavon on the opening day of the Indigo Premiership season.

With that in mind, Head Coach Tom Smith has a strong starting XV, with a wider squad of players named amongst the replacements to give game time to the squad ahead of next weekend’s big league opener.
