After a two week hiatus, Bridgend Ravens are back in action this Saturday when Ebbw Vale visit the Dunraven Brewery Field. Ahead of the game, we caught up with Ravens wideman Caine Woolerton to get his thoughts on the big Indigo Premiership clash.

Woolerton returned to the Ravens in the summer after a short period playing in Australia, and he’s thoroughly enjoying being back in Blue and White.

“It’s great to be back with Bridgend, it’s my home club and I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to come back and I’m really enjoying it. We’ve got a quality group of boys and coaching staff. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve this season.”

Despite the Ravens losing all three of their league games so far, Caine remains in confident spirits that Tom Smith’s side will turn things around.

“I think it’s been tough start to the season so far, as I said we’ve got a quality group of boys who can really do something on the pitch and we really need to utilise on that. I think our effort has been outstanding but we just need to nip the penalties in the bud and really stick to our game plan. If we stick to our game plan and do the basics well then I think we can have a really good season.”

High flying Ebbw Vale are the visitors to Bridgend territory on Saturday afternoon and he knows that it will be a stern test for his team mates.

“Ebbw Vale are a strong side and are definitely going to be up for this game on the weekend. They’re away from home and have a good couple of wins this season. They like to kick and play deep and I think that will suit us with the open play and kicking game we have.

“The boys are really excited. It’s our home ground, in front of our home crowd. It’s always great seeing the home support and it really helps us boys a lot. Training this week has had a real buzz and really good energy, I feel like we’re building nicely ready for the weekend.”
