15 Jan Jamie Murphy leaves Bridgend Ravens

Bridgend Ravens can confirm that Jamie Murphy has left the club by mutual consent.

Murphy enjoyed ten seasons at the Dunraven Brewery Field across three spells at the club. He made 194 appearances, scoring 497 points for the club. During his time at the club, Jamie earned himself a professional rugby contract with the Ospreys and gained international honours playing for Germany. Following his departure from the club, Murphy has joined Pontypridd for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

‘Obviously I am gutted to leave Bridgend. I honestly saw myself retiring from Premiership rugby at the club before going back to play for Tondu but it wasn’t to be.

I left the club last week and had every intention of either taking the rest of the season off or having a few games for Tondu, but I didn’t expect a club like Pontypridd to contact me a few days later and felt it was too good an opportunity to turn down. 

I’ve made friends for life at the club over the 10 or so seasons I’ve been involved, since making my debut in 2008. I would like to thank everyone – from back room staff to the fantastic, loyal supporters and team mates for making my time there such an enjoyable one, their support through thick and thin didn’t go unnoticed.

I’ll be back one day as a fan, but for now, thank you and see you soon.’
