A dominant home performance from Bridgend Ravens saw them pick up a fourth consecutive home win, this time against RGC. 

The Ravens surged over for three first half tries through Jordan Collier, Iwan Griffith and Edd Howley before cutting loose in the second half to hit 40pts for the second week running and cement 8th place in the league standings.

RGC struck first in a phronetic first ten minutes with a penalty from Sam Earl Jones, before Iwan Griffith bagged the first of his tries, cutting a lovely angle to cross under the posts. Luke Price converted.

With their tails up, Bridgend got a second following a sublime chip and chase from Edd Howley which saw the fullback recover the ball over the line to score.

Six minutes later and Bridgend were at it again – a strong forward nudge from the pack was halted inches short of the line, but Jordan Collier powered over for a converted try to extend Bridgend’s lead.

With the clock in overtime, RGC reduced the Bridgend advantage with a second Earl Jones penalty.

A crazy start to the second half saw RGC open the scoring with a try from Dion Jones which he converted himself before Bridgend went straight up the other end for a neatly worked score for Griffith. Price was again on target with the conversion.

Man of the Match Griffith capped a superb individual showing by bagging his hattrick soon after with a nicely read interception. Luke Price slotted a difficult conversion to extend Bridgend’s lead to 20pts.

The home side’s scoring was wrapped up with another maul score from former RGC captain Evan Yardley. Price’s kick brought up the 40 for Tom Smith’s side.

RGC had the final say with two late scores, but the game was already won as Bridgend celebrated their fifth win since the turn of the year.

The Ravens are next in action on Thursday evening when they face league leaders Cardiff at the Arms Park (7:30pm).
