10 Apr TEAM TO FACE RGC (A)
Bridgend Ravens head to North Wales this Saturday for a regular season finale, taking on RGC at Stadiwm Eirias (2:30pm).
The Ravens head North knowing that only a win is likely to secure them a home playoff, with Aberavon sitting one place and two points ahead of Scott Baldwin’s side in 8th place.
For Saturday’s match, Baldwin chooses to rotate his squad with several players nursing knocks from an intense run of fixtures. It gives young Bridgend rugby pathway talents the opportunity to make their mark at Super Rygbi Cymru level, with Iwan Powell, Cody Rae-David, Morgan Boobyer all set to start and scrum half Cai Harries on the replacements bench.
Powell starts the game at full back in a back three with Corum Nott and Gabe Lacey. Edd Howley moves to 13, playing alongside Fraser Jones in midfield. Luke Price starts at 10 with Harvey Nash at scrum half.
There’s a fresh front row of Alex George, debutant Dom Manaseitava and Cardiff Rugby’s Callum Donoghue Proud. Cody – Ray David and Danny Perry make up the second row, and the side is captained by Zac O’Driscoll, who plays at openside in a back row with Alfie Thomas and Boobyer.
Ahead of the playoffs there’s some welcome news for Bridgend with wing Jake Thomas returning to the squad after a short injury layoff to take his place among the replacements on the bench.
