TEAM TO FACE CARDIFF AT THE ARMS PARK

Bridgend Ravens are on the road this weekend with a trip to Cardiff Arms Park to play Cardiff on Saturday afternoon (2:30pm).

It’s been a good few weeks for Bridgend; their four home games yielding 15 league points. That included a pair of five point victories over Aberavon and Pontypool.

Celebrating their 150th season, Cardiff have enjoyed a brilliant start to the Super Rygbi Cymru campaign. They’ve won five of their six games to date, with their only slip up at St Helen’s against Swansea last Thursday, when Joe Thomas’ side beat them 26pts to 3. Other than that, the Blue and Blacks have a perfect record and are the bookies’ favourites to finish the regular season top for the third consecutive season.
Last season, Cardiff beat Bridgend twice – including a 49pts to 12 win in the corresponding fixture. Bridgend were in the game in the early stages, after tries from Ben Burnell and Mccauley Rowley, but the capital side had too much for their visitors, powering home to a six point win.

There are changes to the Bridgend squad as Scott Baldwin contends with an injury list which has seen him reach into his wider squad for the match in Cardiff. Fraser Jones and Gabe Lacry keep their places in the back three, with Cameron Ellis rewarded for a string of good recent showings with a place on the wing. McCauley Rowley comes into the centre to replace Ryan Conbeer who misses out with a knock; Ryan Wilkins is his partner. With Nick Fisk Jones on Ospreys regional duty, Harvey Nash regains the 9 jersey in a half back pairing with Ben Burnell.

Up front, it’s Harry Olding, McKenzie Scales and Nathan Evans in the front row. Cody Ray David and Alfie Thomas make up the second row, with Thomas Jevons, making his 50th club appearance, alongside Zac O’Driscoll and Ioan Davies in the back row.
