Bridgend Ravens are delighted to confirm the signing of centre Mccauley Rowley, who joins the club from Pontypridd.

Having put pen to paper at Sardis Road ahead of the 2023/24 season and featuring 15 times for Pontypridd, Rowley now arrives at the Dunraven Brewery Field and has also played for Ystrad Rhondda, whom he played a starring role for during the previous season and Cardiff Blues age grade teams.

In 2022/23 Rowley helped Ystrad to 4th place in the Championship, was in the team that featured in the Championship Cup final that lost out 28 v 16 to Pontypool while he also helped them win the Mid District Cup thanks to a 30 points to 13 victory over Brecon. This led to his move to Pontypridd in June last year which after a great start was disrupted due to a serious jaw injury sustained against champions Llandovery. Rowley will be no stranger to a number of players in the Bridgend squad this season having featured alongside Ben Burnell, Ryan Wilkins and Harvey Nash on numerous occasions last season. Whilst at Pontypridd last season, Mccauley won Player of the Month award for November after a string of impressive performances.

An elusive runner and good defender who adds strength in depth and versatility to the exciting new Bridgend backline ahead of the new Super Rygbi Cymru season, Rowley has previously featured at both outside centre and wing representing Cardiff Blues at both U16 and U18 level.

Upon joining Bridgend Mccauley said, “I’m really looking forward to what we hope will be an exciting season with the introduction of the new Super Rygbi Cymru competition.

Training has started well, there’s a great group, both of existing squad members and new additions, and a good coaching team who I’m looking toward to working with. I can’t wait to get started at Bridgend.”

Backs Coach Matthew Jones was delighted to see Rowley join the club, commenting, “We know of Mccauley from his time at Pontypridd where he was a great asset. Previous to that though, he’s featured strongly at both Coleg y Cymoedd and Ystrad Rhondda while also being strongly involved at various Cardiff Blues age grade levels. We are looking forward to him joining us and are excited to work with a player who has real potential both with and without the ball.”
