14 Aug COREY LEWIS SIGNS FOR BRIDGEND RAVENS
Bridgend Ravens can confirm that Hooker Corey Lewis has joined the club, signing on the dotted line after returning to Wales ahead of the new Super Rygbi Cymru season.
A former Cardiff Met, Wales U20, England Students, Ampthill and Cambridge player, whom he played for in the Championship, he will add depth to the resources at hooker in Scott Baldwin’s new squad, joining Evan Yardley and Curtis Greenslade, who recently joined us us from Pontypridd.
25 year old Lewis, who hails from Spalding in Lincolnshire, started out playing for his junior club Spalding, before being picked up by Leicester Tigers Academy. He then went on to play for Cardiff Met for three seasons during which he featured for England Students. Some fine performances followed which led to a move to English Championship side Ampthill, joining ‘The Mob’ in February 2021. The following season Lewis joined Cambridge who he now has departed after three season as he heads to the Dunraven Brewery Field.
On signing for Bridgend, Lewis commented, “I’m really pleased to be signing with Bridgend and can’t wait to get stuck into this season! Since joining in the summer, the coaches, staff and players have all been so welcoming and hopefully we can have a successful season on and off the field.”
Bridgend Ravens Head Coach, a former hooker himself, was delighted to capture Lewis’ signature.
“Corey is an all action hooker who has been playing in the English Championship, and he’s also showed what he’s about previously at Cardiff Met and for England Students.” said Baldwin.
“He will add to a strong group of hookers, as we look to improve our set piece this season. As he’s proved elsewhere, he’ll become a popular member of the squad and we look forward to seeing him in action this season.”
