BARNABY WADDELL JOINS BRIDGEND RAVENS

Bridgend Ravens are delighted to announce the signing of second row Barnaby Waddell from Cardiff Met RFC.

The move is a welcome boost to Bridgend’s boiler house, with Barnaby having gained various experiences from his time at the Exeter Chiefs Academy and Cardiff Met, as well as playing for England Uni Students and training with the Canadian national side.

21 year old Barnaby began his rugby journey at Okehampton RFC, here he was recognised and taken into the Exeter Chiefs academy, where he competed at age-grade level from 15s to 18s, and occasionally trained with the first team. Covid scuppered plans for Barnaby to play for Canada U20s on their tour of England, but a move to Cardiff Met came in 2020, where Barnaby has been competing in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Super Rugby league, consistently finishing in the top 4 positions. Most recently, Barnaby was selected to play for England Students against France Students at Coventry Rugby Club in May 2024.

Standing at 6”4’ and coming in at 120kg, Barnaby is certainly an exciting addition to Bridgend’s pack for the forthcoming Super Rygbi Cymru season.

Head Coach, Scott Baldwin was delighted to add Barnaby to his playing squad for the upcoming season, saying “We are delighted to bring Barnaby to Bridgend Ravens. Barnaby comes to us with a wealth of experiences, despite his tender age, and we look forward to continuing his development here and seeing how he progresses throughout the season”.

After completing the move to the Dunraven Brewery Field, Barnaby said “I am thrilled to join Bridgend and become part of such a dynamic and talented team. The club has a fantastic reputation, and I am eager to contribute to its successes in the near future”.

Welcome to Bridgend, Barnaby!
